Jomar

State of Mind is a sculptural exploration of mental health, capturing three inner states of being through one evolving character: Jomar. Each version represents a distinct emotional posture, revealing how our minds shift in response to the world around and within us.

  • The Seeker: Energised and driven, this Jomar is in pursuit of meaning, movement, and momentum. He’s curious, impulsive, and hungry for experience.
  • The Meditator: Grounded and reflective, he brings stillness and presence. At ease with himself, this Jomar listens before he moves, trusting in the quiet wisdom of waiting.
  • The Defender: Tense and alert, this Jomar protects what matters. Anxious but aware, he carries the weight of caution and past pain, guarding his world with care.

Each figure reflects the vital roles our mind plays: to propel us forward, to bring us into presence, and to keep us safe. These states are not fixed but fluid, each Jomar a mirror to the shifting tides of emotion and thought.

Created as a solo project using clay, wire armature, recycled fabrics, and hand-painted detail, State of Mind required minimal digital editing. Its rawness honours the layered complexity of what it means to feel.

Hand crafted mixed media sculpture (clay, wire armature, fabric, acrylic, feather hair).
